CO2 Point Source Location

Element Definition

CO₂ point source locations are defined as stationary facilities that report carbon dioxide emissions to a regulatory or inventory reporting program. For this element, CO₂ point sources include only facilities with geographically referenced emission records in authoritative federal or state emissions datasets at the time of data compilation. Mobile sources and facilities without reported location data are not included.

Mapped Feature Description

This element is displayed as point features representing the reported locations of CO₂-emitting facilities in Illinois. Each point corresponds to a single facility record in the source dataset and reflects the reported geographic coordinates of that facility. The map does not depict emission volumes, capture status, operational schedules, facility boundaries, or infrastructure associated with CO₂ transport or storage.
