Element Definition

Storage formation thickness is defined as the vertical thickness of a geologic formation identified as a potential CO₂ storage reservoir. For this element, storage formation thickness includes the interpreted thickness of regionally mapped storage formations based on stratigraphic correlations derived from well data and geologic models. Only formations designated as potential CO₂ storage reservoirs are included.

Mapped Feature Description

This element is displayed as a continuous subsurface raster representing the thickness of the storage formation across Illinois. Values reflect interpreted formation thickness derived from well control and regional stratigraphic models at the time of publication. The map does not depict reservoir porosity, permeability, net-to-gross ratio, pressure conditions, or storage efficiency.
